My Moleskine Hack -- Part i

I've done a couple hacks to my moleskine:  first one is the addition of index tabs.  the second is the customised weekly calendar, inspired by Mike's one at Roh Design.  But, it's now 1am so you're going to have to wait for the latter.

My Moleskine is a large ruled, and looks like this:

I have all the information I need to run my life chaotically stored within the pages of my little moleskine, from addresses to notes to daytoday-todos to the financial control of money I don't have.  So, separating these groups with tab markers made the chaos more enjoyably fun.

I had tried a few things, plain post-it notes to the regular page marker post-its.  Somehow, in the stationery conglomerate cabinet that each and every company seems to grow like a nasty cancer, my rummaging was rewarded with some 3M Post-it Durable Index Tabs.  Woohoo.  Let me hear you Woohoo with me.  Ready... Woohoo!  Wasn't that fun.  I did say it was 1am.

Anyway.  These tabs were just far too gianormously oversized for my liking, and my initial thought was that they simply wouldn't work.  But then, my nifty little craft knife danced around in front of me, waving it's blade dangerously about and begging me to unleash it's savageness on the poor, unsuspecting index tabs.  If only they had known, they could have aleast had a chance to run... or.. hide at the back of the drawer.. or .. something.     Alas, they didn't, and I let the nifty little craft knife do it's worst.  Which, as it turned out, wasn't worse at all.  Rather ingenius in fact.   I tell you, those nifty little craft knifes are really worth having... anyway, where was I heading with this... oh yes... tabs being too long...

First I cut the colour portion to a tab size I liked, which is around 4mm or 1/8th of an inch, keeping the rounded edges of the tab.  I then cut the remainder of the coloured portion off, so I was left with a clear tab.  The clear tab was rounded at the opposite end to the coloured part, so I simply stuck my cut off coloured piece onto the clear strip and voila!  Instant sticky tab.   I particularly like this because the edges of my tabs are neatly rounded (I'm a little pedantic like that).  I hope that makes sense.  I did say it was 1am.  But just incase it doesn't..  here's one I prepared earlier!

Now you may all comment on how in awe you are at my utterly incredible and amazingly marvellous Moleskine index tab hack, and then I can blush and say 'aww shucks, it was nothing' and pretend to be overwhelming modest.
